Arrows in the Arse
Firstly, this site is MediaWiki - version 1.7.1 to start and will be PATCHED whenever a release comes out. The problem is for the two mediawikis I run this upgrade process has not been so smooth. In particular I cannot bring my most important one past 1.5.8 due to some non-documented database issues. Which is a "con" against usuing the packagaes that come in a linux distro (oh say SUSE v10.0) in production. If you are going to rely on the packages in a business situation - take the trouble to check versions and install the most current stuff. Smoldering and bitter as I am, here we are again because this is otherwise damn fine software.

The site logo
The GIMP will make the image just fine!
- Size: I used 150 wide x 26 tall (pixels).
- Use a PNG of 8bit paletted, not 24 bit. IE6 will not display 256 bit version.
- Transparent background seems to work well.
- Don't interlace with this small an image.

I locked the front page to Sysops only, just because...
- Click on Protect tab when viewing page
